ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - Biology - Genetics

Full-time, 9 month, tenure-track position to begin August 2013.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Ph.D. in Genetics or closely related discipline. Preferred: Previous university-level teaching experience, postdoctoral experience, strong record of peer-reviewed publications, and potential for developing an externally funded research program. Research specialty is open and should complement those of current faculty.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Biology, including but not limited to General Genetics, Molecular Genetics, Genetic Engineering Laboratory, and one or more courses in area of specialty. Development of a research program and pursuit of external funding for research support. Advising of undergraduate and graduate biology majors. Direction of thesis research of M.S. and/or Ph.D. level graduate students. Service to the University and wider community.
SALARY: Commensurate with experience and education. Benefits include the accumulation of one sick leave day per month and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.
